Missions

Our Call

Missions is the activities of the local church as it seeks to obey this Great Commission – Great in its ALL nations call to connect people to their God, to tell people that they have a God who is alive and concerned about them and wants to have a relationship with them! Connecting people to their true GOD – either locally (in South Africa), regionally (in Southern Africa), or internationally.

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Our Response

We believe that the local church is the hope of the world and that every community deserves a life-giving church. Our focus therefore is planting strong local churches.

Ephesians 3:10-11

His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Our heart and intention is to see Strong Leaders and Influential Churches that reproduce themselves, influence and transform their societies. These churches would have our theology, ecclesiology and values however they may not necessarily have our style.

Ultimately we are looking for churches that would be:

1: Self-propagating
Actively reaching out in evangelism to incorporate people into the body of Christ and the local church.
2: Self-governing
A church that is administratively led by the indigenous people. Church leadership not foreign missionaries makes major decisions.
3: Self-supporting
Financially supporting its own local pastor and missions programmes.
4: Self-theologising
The Bible is the basis of all theology. It is written in such a way that it is applicable to all cultures of the world.
5: Self-missionising
Involved with God’s plan to bless the nations of the world with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Our Strategy

We believe that we are called to be missional churches. This requires more than having a “missions department” in the local church; it is more than simply sending money or people to a mission agency, rather that we orient our thinking around the mission of God.

Because of the cost, and complexity, of ministering cross-border, we have found that our individual churches are most effective when they work together in partnership with other churches.

With a Missions Champion in every church, primarily released and resourced to to organise and lead teams on short term mission trips to missionary partners, the strategy can successfully be executed in each local church.

Our Missions Focus

Lesotho

Lesotho Mission

Lesotho Mission has a vision to establish strong, life-giving churches through the development of strong local leadership who will lead churches of influence in villages, towns and cities across Lesotho.

Mozambique

Life Church | Life Child

Life Church has a cell based model. Cell-groups do “life” together, transforming their communities, serving, discipling and changing a nation; One Life at a Time. Life Child exists to reach orphan and vulnerable children and restore communities for generational change.

Zambia

The Zambia Project

The Zambia Project‘s vision is to establish a life-giving church within walking distance of every person in the Western Province of Zambia and to see all villages impacted by the Gospel and uplifted through a strong Christian community.

Missions Resources

We have designed a Missions Manual as a guide to championing missions within the local church and to empower local leaders to organise and lead missions trips.

As an addition to this we have also designed a booklet called Called To Go. This booklet is a collection of daily reflections and devotionals for your teams to use before and during their short term mission trips.
